A growing body of research is beginning to suggest that CBD may have the potential to help improve our ability to focus and concentrate.

In today’s fast-paced, hands-on, and overloaded world, it can be a true challenge to try and stay focused throughout the day. Priorities, electronic devices, and just the basic demands of everyday life can make it extremely hard for one to concentrate long enough to complete tasks in a timely manner.

But do not fear. CBD just might be able to save the day!

Because CBD has the ability to increase blood flow to our hippocampus, (the major component of the brain that plays an important role in the consolidation of information – from short-term memory to long-term memory, as well as spatial memory), there is good reason to believe that CBD products could have the ability to improve one’s focus and concentration. 

In 2018, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) published a review indicating that CBD has the potential to help with mental health and sharpness in numerous ways. The study goes on to suggest that CBD products have the ability to help alleviate the symptoms of things like stress, anxiety, and depression by allowing more serotonin to flow directly to the brain. It goes without saying that when one is less stressed, anxious, or depressed, it becomes a lot easier to focus and concentrate on what you are doing.

In a study published in the Behavioral Neuroscience journal, researchers administered CBD to certain areas of the brain. They found that it activated receptors in the areas of the brain responsible for waking us up. Another study tested the exact same theory on rats and achieved similar results. CBD was able to activate neurons in the brain responsible for alertness.  

  • Reduces anxiety

CBD will help keep your mind clear of daily anxieties and worries, allowing you to focus on what’s really important. The less anxious you are, the better your decision-making will be, and the easier it will become to achieve your goals.

  • Relaxation properties

Do you have restless legs and arms? Are the muscles over your eye or lip twitching? These are all signs of stress, and CBD has been known to reduce these symptoms. The more still and calm you can keep your body, the easier it becomes to focus and concentrate for longer periods of time.

Conclusion:

As we often mention, larger human trials and more research is still needed for scientists to prove that CBD has beneficial properties when it comes to helping and improving one’s focus and concentration. Having said that, early research does suggest that it could have serious benefits in this area.
