The short answer is no. Hemp oil and CBD oil are extremely different to one another.
While it is true that both hemp oil and CBD oil come from the same variety of plant, their difference as a compound cannot be overstated.
The main difference between hemp oil and CBD oil is the active cannabinoid content. Generally, hemp oil will contain little to no CBD, whereas CBD oil obviously does. The extraction method is also completely different. CBD oil is extracted from the plant’s stalk and it’s flowers, whereas hemp oil is extracted from the plant’s seeds. It’s also important to keep in mind that hemp oil is generally sold as a cooking product, unlike CBD oil.
CBD oil extraction:
Manufactures of CBD oil will use a variety of extraction methods, including solvent extraction, steam distillation and carbon dioxide extraction. The latter has become the benchmark of extraction methods due to its personalization, purity and yield. The method involves blasting carbon dioxide against the plant in order to obtain CBD and other active compounds.
Hemp oil extraction:
Hemp oil is extracted the same way that other seed oils are, by using a cold-press machine. The seeds are tightly packed into the cold-press and are then crushed and ground. The oil gets separated from the pulp and the result is an unprocessed oil, preserving all of the nutrients contained in the seeds.
Both CBD and hemp oil can play a vital role in your all round wellness. While hemp oil contains little to no CBD, it is super-rich in omegas (good fats) and has zero trans fats. It is also often used as a carrier oil for CBD.
When deciding which oil is better suited for your needs, it’s important to know what you are trying to get out of your chosen oil. For example, hemp oil will generally have more nutritional benefits, but if you are looking to treat pain as an example, then CBD is your best bet.
